The Axon System is a comprehensive set of instruments and implants designed for posterior stabilization of the upper spine*. It includes clamps, top-loading variable axis screws, hooks, transconnectors, transverse bars and rods.
These implants provide the flexibility required to accommodate variations in patient anatomy.
The Axon System uses the existing CerviFix® rods, allowing components from Axon and CerviFix to be interchanged. This allows a construct to extend from the occiput to the lower spine using the Universal Spine System (USS).
Key Features & Benefits
The Axon system is based on the AO Principles and includes:
- Top-loading variable axis screws
- 3.5mm titanium rods for a strong construct
- Implants compatible with all CerviFix and StarLock implants, providing greater variability and versatility
The resulting rigid, locked screw-rod construct is resistant to screw and construct backout.
Indications
- Hooks, Plate / Rods and Screws - For use when intended to promote fusion of the cervical spine and occipitocervical junction (occiput – T3) for the following: DDD, spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, fracture / dislocation, atlantoaxial fracture with instability, occipitocervical dislocation, revision of previous cervical spine surgery, tumors. In treatment of these conditions screws are limited to occipital fixation only.
- Hooks and Rods – Rod and Hook components are also intended to provide stabilization to promote fusion following reduction of fracture / dislocation or trauma in the cervical / upper thoracic (C1-T3) spine.
- Hooks, Clamps, Screws, Nuts, Variable Axis Screws, Locking Screws and Transverse Bars - Intended to promote fusion following reduction of fracture / dislocation or trauma in the upper thoracic spine (T1-T3). Use of these screws is limited to placement in T1-T3 in treating thoracic conditions only.
Warning: The device is not intended for screw attachment or fixation to the pedicles of the cervical, thoracic (T4-T12), or lumbar spine.
