There are many indications where the use of external fixation is highly applicable. The orthopaedic community uses a 2-stage protocol for some patients. This involves a temporary spanning external fixator to stabilize the injury and allow soft tissues to recover, and then a secondary procedure of definitive internal fixation. External fixation can also be used as a primary means of fixation. Synthes offers a comprehensive range of external fixation systems to address a large variety of fracture patterns in many anatomic locations.
Synthes is dedicated to providing products to improve current treatments in orthopaedic trauma surgery.
