The TFN permits an intramedullary approach for fixation of proximal femur fractures. When compared to single lag screw fixation, the TFN exhibits improved resistance to varus collapse and rotational control of the medial fracture segment, yielding superior life to cut out.
Key Features & Benefits
- 11m Helical Blade results in reduced bone removal compared to a traditional hip screw
- Versatile system indicated for a number of fracture types in the femur
- Lateral entry point (6 degrees lateral to greater trochanter) ideal for overweight patients, where piriformis fossa entry can be challenging
- Superior life to cut out when compared to traditional hip screw
- Titanium alloy material used for improved mechanical and fatigue properties
Indications
- Stable and unstable pertrochanteric fractures, basilar neck fractures, and combinations thereof
- Long TFN-subtrochanteric fractures
- Long TFN- pertrochanteric fractures associated with shaft fractures
- Long TFN- pathologic fractures of osteoporotic bone (including prophylactic use) in both trochanteric and diaphyseal regions, long subtrochanteric fractures, proximal or distal malunions, non-unions and revisions
